[Kyoto Aquarium Dolphin Maria Death Wrong Treatment]
Maria, whose mouth was tattered, died. Maria was deprived of life by human greed. Received life as a born slave at Kamogawa Sea World and was confined to the Kyoto Aquarium, and drugged. Maria was made profitable as an aquarium product. She was shown to meet the dolphin fan’s desire. The cause of oral disease was unknown from the beginning. And she just died. Having not cured and killed for years means that the treatment was wrong.
The veterinarian was unable to identify the cause, and was treating what seemed to be the same as an amateur who was treating while searching online.
A dolphin trainer? Veterinarian? , laughs, chats, and burns skin other than the wound.
I asked Kyoto aquarium “How many years Maria has been sick?” The aquarium responded “I don’t want to tell” , refused to disclose information.
With aquariums and people who like self-proclaimed dolphins,
People trying to free aquariums from confining and suffering dolphins,
Which is the dolphin ally?
The answer is clear.
Two veterinarians watched it through the Dolphin Project.
From the pics you sent me I can confirm that looks like an open dental abscess. In the pic n.4, it’s possible to recognise also the spill pus. The opening of the hole has almost clear margins, so it was present an infection for a long time. The condition of the teeth and gums is really complicated, it would need specific antibiotic treatment.
I think you’re right that this could a severe case of dental decay that has advanced to osteomyelitis and infection of the surrounding tissues, or possibly trauma leading to secondary infection. I would also consider cancer as a possible differential here. While it isn’t overtly tumorous, the jaw is clearly swollen internally in that area and the exposed tissues appear carcinoma-like to me. Oral cancer is not uncommon in captive dolphins and, while they are usually sublingual, squamous cell carcinomas can invade the jaw (though I’m not aware of a case that has been reported in this species). Laser therapy is a common treatment modality for oral/throat cancer, so fits the scenario. All speculation without more info of course.
The keeper said that it was eye protection. Just because they are kind to animals. I would like the keeper to realize that being confined to an environment where you have to protect seals eyes, and putting medicines for humans into animals with completely different body structures is unethical and antinatural in itself.
Also, the eyes of Mary of the sea lion look a disease.
Kyoto Aquarium is artificial sea water. Do you want to spend your life in artificial air? Wee do not know what kind of influence will occur if it is confined for a lifetime in artificial air. It may be one of the causes that the wound of the dolphin has not been cured for more than 3 years. https://animal-liberator.net/animal-liberator/kyoto-aquarium-1-tattered
However, there are many aquariums in which even marine seals are put in fresh water. Among them, there were also facilities where seals were rushed into the river’s running water. North Safari Sapporo.
All over Japan, it was full of cataract seals. This time, I did not check the eyes of seals in the Kyoto Aquarium. If anyone can go, please check and take photos.
I think shooting is difficult. Because the seal moves. I will give you some tips. 1 Seals moves in the same way. It may be abnomal behavior. If a seal keep swimming from end to end of the pool, it will slow down as the seal turn. The moment the seal finish the turn and move on to the next action is your aim. 2 The speed at which the seals swim is relatively constant. If you shoot while moving the camera according to the swimming speed, it will be in focus. 3 The seal get tired and rest on the surface of the water. At that time, you aim at the seal eyes and take pictures. It is hard to see if it is over acrylic board.
