吻（ふん）がなくなったイルカ「シード」の治療について

この日は1日３回の治療がなされ、全てトレーナーが行っていました。
治療に関し、観察で目視確認できたのは
・ホースで水をかけ、傷口を洗う。
・薬を塗っている様子はなく、手で傷口をグリグリと揉む。
でした。
この「傷口を揉む」行為では、「シード」が嫌がる様子が見てとれます。
傷口に手を近づけると、避けるような動作を度々見せており、なだめるようにトレーナーがしきりに褒美の食事を与えながら行っていました。
この行為につきまして、イルカの研究をされている方にお聞きしましたところ、推測にはなりますが、これは「脱感作トレーニング」ではないか、とのことでした。
「脱感作トレーニンング」とは、痛み・恐怖・不安などを起こす刺激を段階的に与えることによって、痛み・恐怖・不安を克服させる方法で、この場合、
獣医師が治療を行う際、「シード」に抵抗なく治療を受け入れさせる、静止させるなどの目的があると考えられます。
給餌は個体ごとにすでに準備され与えられるため、その中に薬が入っているかどうかは確認できませんでした。
口腔内が膿み、ひどい状態だった「マリア」（2019年7月30日死亡）
に対し行っていた治療については明日投稿します。
