牛たちは私に興味を持ち、近づいてきて、撫でてもらおうとします。
純粋な目。
私は撫でながら、
「君たちはいつか、恐怖のどん底に陥れられ、殺される瞬間に人間に裏切られたことを知るんだよ。そして、人々の舌を楽しませ、胃で消化され、排泄される」
と心の中で思いました。
暖かい体。
とても柔らかい毛。
動物の中でも「家畜」は最もレベルの低い存在とされています。
ペットや野生動物よりも、はるかに格が低い存在。
「「家畜」は普通の動物とは違う」無意識のうちにそう思っていないでしょうか。
しかし、「家畜」は心を持つ動物。
しかも人間に選択的に作られてきたために、心優しく、人間を信頼している動物です。
子牛は鼻を柱に括りつけられていました。
座れないように。
高く売れるようにするためにです。
子牛は助けを求めて鳴いていました。
この子の母親はすぐ近くにいました。
鳴き声は聞こえますが、どうすることもできません。
